JODIE NICOTRA

"One of the best freelance writers I have ever worked with."

-Freelancer.com review

About Me

I'm a seasoned writer and teacher with over 20 years of experience. Clients praise my professionalism and communication skills and my ability to distill complex ideas into clear, concise writing.

I worked as a writing professor, director of composition, and department chair at the University of Idaho for over 15 years before I left to explore other avenues. As part of that work I wrote a composition textbook (in its second edition) and many scholarly articles and book chapters.

Now I use my research savvy and knowledge of many different types of writing in my work as a freelance writer. I write magazine profiles and features, public-facing science and medical articles, white papers, reports, blogs, PowerPoints, short-form marketing, and more. You can find samples of my recent work here.

When I'm not writing, I work as a caregiver for clients experiencing dementia, and as a "simulated participant" in veterinary and medical school education. I also  teach yoga and meditation classes, am working on my second-degree black belt in karate, and am an ardent gardener, forager, and student of plant medicine.
